Virus iPhone Game

Posted on April 17, 2009 by admin

It’s a tough rap but beggars can’t be choosers. If you buy a game for a dollar, you’ll probably get a game that’s worth a dollar and one of those games for the iPhone is Virus. No wait, that’s not quite accurate – you actually get more than your money’s worth with Virus. It makes great use of the iPhone’s functions and brings to your iPhone a game with a surprising amount of quality and playability.

One unfortunate patient is filled with a wide variety of viruses. These aren’t just passive viruses either – the multiply and attack. You take on the role of a general that commands white blood cells in order to fight off these dangers. Releasing a white blood cell is as easy as tapping the screen. The longer you push on the screen, the bigger the white blood cell that you release. The objective is to fill up a gauge by creating these blood cells. When you fill up the gauge, you finish the level, which has more of the bad old virus running around.

Here’s the catch and what makes the game the game – you get a limited number of white blood cell releases per level and see, the viruses are bouncing around the stage as you release these white cells. Whenever the cell you’re releasing is struck by a virus cell, it dies off. After three failures, the patient is a goner, which means you have to be very careful. When you add in the fact that you get more mileage on the gauge with a bigger white blood cell and you have a very, very addictive game with a simple premise.

There are plenty of tactics for the savvy player. While a white blood cell can be destroyed while being created, once it’s there it is there to stay. You can try to corral or lock in virus cells to have an easier time of it. Conceptually, it’s nothing that breaks the bank. It’s nothing that will win gaming awards – but it can win the battle for your time. It looks amazing for a game with such a concept. As with most things that involve a score, there are online leader boards for those who like to brag.

It’s a great find for a great price and a great addition to your iPhone, especially if you have a lot of quick breaks that you find yourself doing nothing in. It’s a bargain – it’s only one buck and is definitely worth a shot.
