If you’ve ever been entertained by men and women valiantly spinning lots of plates on lots of poles, you’ll probably like Chocolate Shop Frenzy. For people with iPhones looking for their fix of hectic action that involves an entrepreneur, this might be the one for you. Your job is to help a probably frazzled young woman named Emma make a chocolate shop as successful as possible by directly answering to the needs of every single customer, who, inexplicably, each have different and sometimes bizarre and terribly specific demands.

Like many games in the plate spinning genre, Chocolate Shop Frenzy is a game of time management. The better you do at it, the more money goes into your shop and so forth. Initially, as in real life business, things start out relatively simple – it can’t get that complicated with only one machine in the room. As time goes by and your products become more complex, so do the orders, much in the way armor evolves hand-in-hand with weapons. The customers get complex too, bringing into your store a number of personality quirks such as differences in how they tip to how impatient they are.

The game doesn’t bring anything new to the genre, but it is one of the few options for this genre on the iPhone, which instantly puts it ahead of a small pack. Throw in the fact that the graphics are vibrant and refreshing and you’ve got an addictive game. It’s just so easy on the eyes that it could actually serve to relax you while keeping the gears in your head going.

The makers, Digital Chocolate, took care to cater (no pun intended) to their audience – that is, the mobile phone user market. Character design is also striking and very clear as their look easily delivers what kind of character they are at a glance. The storyline, that of a small business trying to take down the corporation with good old quality chocolate, is nothing special. Happily, that’s not really what you’re looking for in this kind of game.

It is the company’s second foray into the world of mobile phone gaming and much like their first product, is merely a port. They did take care to make it worth it to previous players and fans by adding more complexity in the form of more levels and extra bonuses and goodies, making it a sort of special edition. It looks great, plays great and most importantly, is a fun game to play. Chocolate Shop Frenzy should definitely be on your list of downloads.
